Book Review: “Peeps at Many Lands: Ancient Greece” by James Baikie

Peeps at Many Lands: Ancient Greece by James Baikie

This book is a quick look at life in ancient Greece. From the seashore of Athens, to the top of the Acropolis, to the Greek Theater, and of course, the first Olympic Games, you’ll practically live in the world of ancient Greece. With “street-view” descriptions of the homes and market places of Athens, and story-like descriptions of an Olympic foot-race, Ancient Greece paints a beautiful picture of the ancient world in your mind.  This book was an easy read, but I still learned a lot from it, and enjoyed reading it. It moves at just the right pace, not dwelling on a single aspect of Greece so long as to bore you, but also being thorough in describing the topic. If you’re looking for a swift but entertaining and educational overview of Ancient Greece, I highly recommend this book.
