*Tabula Rosa = Latin. The mind before it receives the impressions it gains from experience.
The theory that we are born without built-in mental content and all knowledge comes from experience or perception. Proponents say the mind is born with possession of certain knowledge

Tabula Rosa is a Latin word coming from tabula. Often translated in English clean slate. A tabula is Roman wax tablet for notes which was cleared by heating and then smoothing the wax.

** vis inertiæ = from Latin. The resistance of matter to change, as when a body at rest stays at rest; inactivity, apathy, passive, inert.

***lèse majesté = French. To do wrong to majesty, offence against the dignity of a monarch; criminal in ancient Rome
